Denny The First is an experimental noise music project written, produced and recorded out of Naarm/Melbourne, Australia. Drawing on field recordings, esoteric electronic instruments and world music influences, the pieces are a study of impermanence, place, and the hidden patterns in the natural world.

Multi-instrumentalist, Ben Dexter, started in the trade in the 00’s touring Australia in various rock’n’roll / shoegaze outfits and released albums under the Warner and Festival Mushroom labels. After a 10 year hiatus away from the music trade, Dexter began collecting and experimenting with exotic instruments seeking to completely destroy any limitations imposed by popular music. In that act of self-immolation, modal and textural sonic themes surfaced ultimately delivering the tracks of Sea Organ. Mixed and mastered by Becki Whitton at Carriage Studios in Collingwood, the album invites the listener to wade through broad sonic landscapes while playing with atypical modalities, polyrhythms and structures.

Debut album, Sea Organ, is set for release mid 2026 (self-released).
